Frequently Asked Questions...
What kind of snowboard should I buy?
I've been boarding for about 10 years now and my current board is just as old. I like the step in clicker style bindings but everyone is trying to convice me to convert to the strap in style. What board and boot combo would you recommend and why? I'm not an extreme rider, I like to cruise easy and have fun. Also, do you think I should demo some before I buy?
Answer:
You cant really get many clicker style bindings now in fact im not sure if you can get any at all. I can imagine that because you are used to the clicker ones you dont want to change, but to be honest there not as good as the strap ones, and i think over time you will actually prefere the strap type to the clicker style ones.
But the first thing you should do is buy your boots before getting your board or bindings. The best thing to do when buying boots is just to go into your local snowboard shop and try on all the boots in your size and price range and buy the ones that fit your feet the best and feel the most comfortable regardless of style or brand. Dont go by what other people recommend when buying boots as what may suit one person may not suit another if there foot shape is different. Generally brands like Thirty Two and Vans suit people with wider feet wheres brands like Salomon and Northwave are better for people with slim feet. Go with the ones that feel most comfee, your boots are your most important bit of kit its vital that they fit you well otherwise you well find riding in them a nightmare.
For a new board based on your riding style i would go for an all mountain board. Which are boards that can be used for all types of rideing freeriding, freestyle, powder etc. As you have been riding 10 years i would imagine you are pretty good but as you like to cruise and have fun i wouldent go for a really advanced board more an intermediate to advanced board which will handle well at low and high speeds.
Ive listed some boards that would suit you and your style of riding.
Burton Feelgood
Atomic Polarity
Gnu B-Nice
Option Paloma
Ride Vista
Rome Vinyl
Sapient PNB3
K2 Luna
Its a good idea to demo some boards first if you get the chance to, then you can really pick the board thats best for you. Good luck.
