Frequently Asked Questions...
How to stop this from scarring?
Had this for 2 days now - it's from a sharp blunt force hit.
It's on my face, and yes, it hurts, and as can be seen, it's caused swelling due to the fact that it's deep.
What can I do to avoid it from scarring up? I don't want a scar on my face.

If it makes any difference, I'm 22, and I applied an alcohol based cleaning pad to the SURROUNDING area after the wound, and I apply a bandage to it when I go to sleep at night, as well as a little vaseline once a day to keep it moisturized.

How Dangerous Are Stomach Pains?
When people complain of harsh stomach pains, they may in fact be describing the pain that did is not coming from the organ known as the stomach itself. Terms like stomachache, stomach pains and stomach discomfort can describe any pain that comes from the area between the bottom of the ribcage and lower abdominal area.
In this article, we'll, focus our attention only on disorders that cause sharp pains in the upper abdominal area - approximately surrounding the navel. We won't cover problems like inflammation of the appendix or pains in the groin that are normally felt in the lower regions of the abdomen.
That said, here are the most frequent reasons for sharp pains in the stomach.
Overindulgence - This is another way of saying you ate too much, or ate too fast.
Eating something you wish you hadn't - certain foods can cause allergic reactions in your body, or maybe they're just too difficult for your digestive system to handle.
Gastroenteritis - Naturally, there are acute stomach illnesses that can result in severe abdominal discomfort. One of the most common is gastroenteritis (commonly called the stomach flu), which is characterized by nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.
Gastritis - This is an inflammation or erosion in a section of the lining of the stomach. Peptic ulcers are a form of gastritis, which can actually cause severe, extremely sharp stomach pain.
Acid regurgitation or reflux - Just about everyone is familiar with a condition called heartburn. Heartburn, referred to as acid reflux, occurs when stomach acid erupts past the valve separating the stomach from the esophagus. Tissue in the esophagus significantly more sensitive than those in the stomach, so part of the esophagus becomes damaged by acid. This causes tingling or burning discomfort in the upper abdomen.
Cancer - As you're probably already aware, most types of cancer do not have warning signs they reach a dangerous stage. But at a certain point, sharp pain starts to appear. The same is true with stomach cancer. Stomach cancer is now relatively rare in the U.S., but anyone who has it is probably going to experience sharp abdominal pains.
Gallbladder problems - If you suddenly start to feel sharp stomach pain a short time after you have a meal that includes a lot of fat, it may very well be a gallbladder attack. Gallbladder trouble frequently happens when too much cholesterol overwhelms the gallbladder all at once, and the gallbladder is unable to process it all as it normally does. Gallbladder problems not only cause stomach pain, but can also trigger discomfort in the side and back in the area of the shoulders.
Gallstones, which are another form of gallbladder trouble, can cause severe stomach pain as well.
Liver disorders - There are many different varieties of liver disorders that cause stomach pain. Liver disorders may include cirrhosis and hepatitis, which are forms of liver inflammation. abdominal pain is a common symptom of another liver condition known as ascites. Ascites occurs when fluid accumulates in the abdominal area.
Pancreatitis - Pancreatitis is caused by inflammation of the pancreas. The pancreas helps control the way the human body processes sugar.
Spleen - Splenomegaly is the medical term for an enlarged spleen. When you are diagnosed with splenomegaly, it is usually a sign that there is some other underlying disease. Infection, anemia, or cancer are among the possibilities. A ruptured spleen, which is usually caused by a serious blow or traumatic injury of any type, will result in stomach pain.
These are just some of the possible causes of severe stomach pain. In many cases, such pain will disappear after some time without treatment. However, extremely sharp stomach pain, or moderate stomach pain persisting longer than a few hours is worth a consultation with your physician.
