Books on Brain Injury

We are often asked about books on brain injury.  There are many available and we usually encourage the person asking to review the offerings from the major booksellers.  Direct links are found below:

Barnes & Noble

Amazon

Borders

In addition the national BIA has a number of books for sale.  By buying from them a portion of the price is returned to BIA.  You can find information on these offerings at: BIAA-USA

Another important source is the National Resource Center for Traumatic Brain Injury at Virginia Commonwealth University, which provides a group of practical information books.  This site, which offers a 27-page catalog,  and can be accessed at: NRC-TBI

Other sites devoted to disability information are:

Inclusion Press

L and A Publishing

Positive Power.  If you are looking for a good book from one of our members, we'd like to recommend "How to Conquer the World with One Hand and an Attitude" by our own Paul Berger.

In addition, we encourage you to to look at:

Dr Diane's Brain Injury, Concussion, Stroke and TBI Resources

Claudia L. Osborn, Author of Over My Head

NVBIA Library

NVBIA has a limited number of books on brain injury at our office which are available to those desiring to read one.

As we reported in our newsletter the Virginia Tourism Corporation has published the fourth edition of its superb travel guide for people with disabilities, featuring 500 museums, parks, restaurants and other attractions.  Each listing includes potentially trip-making or -breaking details like the grading and composition of trails, entry-door widths, location of handicapped parking, availability of roll-in showers and more.  The book is in large type and is free. Call 1-800-742-3935 (TTD: 804-371-0327) or write: Virginia Tourism Corp., 901 E. Byrd St., Richmond, Va. 23219.
